I have been inspired by photography my whole life. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with cameras and received my first own real camera at the age of five. I remember going for drives with my parents and always wanting to take pictures and wishing that I had my own camera to capture it all. I see everything as a possible photo and the unlimited possibilities that exist. This has stayed with me since any early age and I still try to capture everything I see through a camera lens.
I think that my parents have had a lot to do with encouraging me to be as creative as possible. My mother is the one that I am convinced could transform a dirty alleyway into a beautiful space, while at the same time organizing everyone to make it all happen. My dad is my biggest supporter, always there for moral support and a gentle pat on the back.
I once told my parents that I was going to go back to school to be either a pediatrician or a family doctor. While they were excited for me, they asked the inevitable question, what about your photography? Will you continue to shoot weddings during your spare time? As always, my parents knew long before me that this was my inevitable destiny. My plans for life as Dr. Rachel Peters have been put on hold, but I know that my parents will continue to inspire me and encourage me in whatever destination I choose.
