The holiday was started early in the twentieth century to commemorate the roles that fathers played in parenting their children and to complement Mother's Day celebrations. Gifts are usually given and there are family oriented activities and special dinners for many fathers.

The Father's Day is a day of commemoration and celebration of Dad -the special man in our life. We often forget the sacrifice of our fathers and the roles they have played in shaping our lives. Father's Day gives us the opportunity to show and express our love and care to this man, who deserves our support most.

I have so many great things to say about my Dad, where do I begin?

My Dad is the most gentle, wise, loyal, proud, unknowingly comical, sweetest dad of all time. A soft spoken "Taker' easy" every time I leave the house, is an "I love you".
I have heard more than once from others, including friends that I am lucky to have my dad as MY DAD; and believe me I am well aware of how lucky I am. I could not be more grateful.

I will be spending the day with my dad, and hope all of you are as well.

I had the privilege of cat sitting Jackson Ole' Boy this past 2 weeks while my brother, sister in law and 2 nieces were finishing and moving into their first new home!

This cat is one of a kind. I have NEVER in my life met a cat that is this lovable and snuggly. Jackson gives you head butts o' love all day long. Ole' Boy is the most gentle around babies and children and will allow them to pick him up and walk around with him (this is when he goes into accordion mode) without even a meow. He is:

-half cat
-half raccoon
-half dog
-half rabbit
-half baby seal
-half kangaroo
-half accordion
-half crazy

I am going to miss this one of a kind gem around here. I will be visiting with him frequently and am glad that I was in his presence for the past 2 weeks.

Well I always knew that my clients were tops, the best clients that the world had to offer. Not only are they always wonderful, witty, fun, creative, wise, beautiful (of course) and giving, they become my friends. I had a visit from an "Everyone is Beautiful" Client last night when she was picking up her album. I couldn't believe when I opened the door she had brought ME a treat and a surprise. She had made a homemade serving platter with White Chocolate Cheesecake on it! Can you believe it? She remembered from our session us chatting about how much I loved White Chocolate Cheesecake and thought since she had so much fun during our session that she would bring me a treat!

It wasn't the cheesecake that made me smile inside and out. It was the idea that a client of mine had thought of me as a friend. I am so lucky to have met so many amazing people through photographing special times. Some of the many great clients are now great friends.

I always talk about being grateful. I am extremely grateful for all of the people in my life. Everyday I am more and more grateful to have been given this creative gift to share with each of my clients. My most amazing clients, each and everyone of them.

I have been inspired by photography my whole life. For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated with camera's and received my first own real camera at the age of five. I remember going for drives with my parents and always wanting to take pictures and wishing I had my own camera to capture it all. I see everything as a possible photo and the unlimited possibilities that exist. This has stayed with me since an early age and I still try to capture everything I see through a camera lens.

I think that my parents have had a lot to do with encouraging me to be as creative as possible. My mother is the one that I am convinced could transform a dirty alleyway into a beautiful space, while at the same time, organizing everyone to make it all happen. My dad is one of my biggest supporters, always there for moral support and a gentle pat on the back.

I once told my parents that I was going to go back to school to be either a pediatrician or a family doctor. While they were excited for me, they asked the inevitable questions, what about your photography? Will you continue to shoot weddings at all? As always, my parents knew long before me that this was my inevitable destiny.

My plans for life as Dr. Rachel Peters have been put on hold, but I know that my parents will continue to inspire me and encourage me in whatever destination I choose.
