This Julia Roberts look alike did this session last year for Valentine's Day for her husband. I have heard that he loved it as much as she did. YAY!!

Julia, I mean Jana, was very nervous to do this session. I think she almost *secretly* hoped that I wouldn't answer the door so she could go back home. I am glad I didn't and had sent a confirmation email the night before. I think she DEFINITELY had hoped I hadn't done that!

I received this response from her about the boudoir session.."It's not just enough to be able to take great pictures, you make people feel at ease too! I have told so many people what a fabulous experience a shoot with YOU is! .... I love your blogs, they are soooo from the heart...so heartfelt" :-)

I still have a few spaces left for the Valentine's Day sessions on January 22nd & 23rd. Would love to capture your beauty!

If only you could come to Paris ... I would be so happy to have a boudoir session with you or a Valentine's Day session or whatever you want ... Love your pic's and unfortunately my vocabulary in english is too bad and poor to explain my feelings about your work !!! Would love to have a session with you !!! Think about it if you come in Paris one day !

So yesterday I did 20 boudoir/ pole shoots with 20 amazing women. One session right after another. What an amazing day! Most of these women, I would guess 90% had never done a photography session like this before. I was glad to have one on one time with each of these "models".

When I had this one on one time with each women, I asked them a question. Most of them were doing this for Christmas presents for their partners but one girls answer to this question was awesome! This paticular client said that she was doing this shoot for herself. She was really in shock that she was doing this at all. Her along with everyone who has ever done a boudoir shoot with me was extremely nervous. This client wanted to help her self esteem, and move further on this journey of self enlightenment. The pole classes that she was taking were helping her coming out of her shell of shyness.

I believe that everyone of these women were involved for a good reason. Each one of them gave me a piece of their personalities in these sessions last night. I hope that they all felt beautiful as they looked!

Over the past few years, brides have been adding a boudoir photo session to their wedding packages. These are usually at least a month before the wedding and sometimes are given to the groom as a gift on a wedding night. Here are some of the questions I get asked about my boudoir sessions. I thought it might nice to share some of this information with any girls that are thinking of doing a session with me.

1 - Do you have any tips on how to relax about being photographed in lingerie?

Doing a Boudoir session can be a nervous thing for most people. EVERY person who emails me and eventually enters my place for a session is nervous. Most have serious second thoughts of canceling before the shoot. You can expect to be nervous. This is ok and quite normal. Sometimes I have heard that yoga, a walk or some form of exercise the morning of the session will also help.
It is when the client leave smiling & happy that is what I like to focus on!

2 - What type of lingerie looks great in boudoir photos?

I know that corsets are becoming a very popular choice for boudoir photos. Know your best asset and plan to accentuate it! Other choices are well-fitted bra-and-pantie sets, sexy leggings and cute baby dolls. Another thing that women sometime bring are favorite sports jersey's.

3 - What's the best setting for a boudoir shoot?

A bed or couch seems to be the fitting choice to start with for a boudoir shoot. If you have ideas, lets go over them! I always love to shoot on location and to have new ideas.

4 - Are there things a bride should avoid doing during the shoot that turn tasteful pictures into tacky ones?

Think about what you want your photos to look like. I don't use things like flowers, roses, or champagne glasses. That is not to say those things don't look great in photos, they are just not my style of photography. Having Professional Makeup done is also an important part of making your session a beautiful and not a tacky one. I can provide an amazing makeup artist on site.

5 - Do you have any advice on how to find a good boudoir photographer -- what you should look for, who you should avoid?

Ask around! I can send you some past clients emails who can share information about doing a session if you feel you would like to inquire. Find a photographer that has some experience and has lots of shots on their blogs and websites that are suited to your style of photography that you like. Make sure you feel comfortable with your photographer or you may feel more tense during the session.

I just wanted to address an common thread that seems to come to me with my boudoir friends. It is about how normal it is to be nervous about doing a session - trust and believe me on this one. Every single girl who comes through the door is freaking out a little bit, whether or not she shows it to me within seconds of walking through the door or minutes after makeup starts when she blurts it out. I have people come in and walk in circles, scared to cross in the door from the hall, and girls just shaking. It is all completely normal. I wanted everyone to know this so that they know how others feel.

The exact opposite of above happens when they are finished. I love when girls cannot stop smiling when they leave, or tell me that they feel relieved that they went through with the session. It is like the girls on a bit of a rush, and feel so empowered after completely the session.

Keep on smiling :-)

Amanda the beautiful is an amazing makeup artist and wonderful friend. I met Amanda after she came recommended to me to work on with for my sessions. I was happy to meet with her and I have been working with her ever since! Amanda has been working with me for over the past year. I just grabbed these pics of her early one morning before a shoot! She always is so beautiful and fashionable!

Amanda has worked in Toronto, Calgary and Charlottetown over the past few years. She has had the opportunity to work in the Toronto Santa Claus parade & the United Way fundraiser fashion show in Toronto with some of the SOMA students in 2005. Amanda also took part as a makeup artist for PEI fashion week 2007.

Amanda also gives private or group lessons on how to apply makeup properly, recommending products for each person, seasonal trends, and going through some before and after makeup for the people who are interested. You can contact Amanda for her services through her email address or at her Facebook Fan Page .
