Pinch - OW

Pinch - Owwwwww

Pinch - OUCH

That is what my two weeks with two amazing couples in Cuba felt like. Ouch. Well I had to keep pinching myself, as I couldn't believe it was real. I was actually in a paradise made in heaven and I was given free run of the photos! I actually closed my eyes a few times and opened them again multiple times. I mean how lucky am I?

The first couple that I worked with and enjoyed a lot of time with is Stacey & Ron from PEI. I have known Stacey for a while and enjoyed their company, along with their families and friends while we lounged on the beach, or by the pool. Ron even convinced me to go past my knees in the water in the ocean, but it ended bad for me and a laugh for him, his brother & Stacey.

Being invited on a destination wedding is like nothing else. It was a dream come true for me to be such a special part of Stacey & Ron's big day in such a beautiful place. I cannot thank them both enough for including me and for Ron for allowing me to take more than 6 photos on the wedding day!

No Code. We bonded over Pearl Jam's No Code album. As soon as they walked into my place I took a Polaroid photo of them, and Mitch loved it (lol I think he did!). We then got talking about old camera's and Polaroids etc. They informed me I had to get the No Code album by Pearl Jam as the jacket cover consists of 144 Polaroids that fold into a 2X2 square. Of course I listened and searched all over big Charlottetown to find it. It cannot be found. I will try again in Toronto next week. These two Pearl Jam fans are headed to Boston to see their band for part of their honeymoon next week! YAY!

Lisa & Mitch are getting married TODAY!!! It is a very exciting day for everyone involved. I seen the way Mitch treats Lisa and it is real. I love it. They were as cute as buttons and very sweet.

I am on my way to see them now, and photograph the big day. This is my first wedding on PEI for the 2010 season. Let's get it going!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to address an common thread that seems to come to me with my boudoir friends. It is about how normal it is to be nervous about doing a session - trust and believe me on this one. Every single girl who comes through the door is freaking out a little bit, whether or not she shows it to me within seconds of walking through the door or minutes after makeup starts when she blurts it out. I have people come in and walk in circles, scared to cross in the door from the hall, and girls just shaking. It is all completely normal. I wanted everyone to know this so that they know how others feel.

The exact opposite of above happens when they are finished. I love when girls cannot stop smiling when they leave, or tell me that they feel relieved that they went through with the session. It is like the girls on a bit of a rush, and feel so empowered after completely the session.

Keep on smiling :-)

I am back from my working vacation and my heart is ready to explode. I have already shed tears of gratitude a few times and pinched myself over and over. I just cannot believe that I am so lucky.

I was in Varadero, Cuba doing destination weddings, Empower the Dress session and Boudoir sessions. I loved EVERY single minute of it.

One of the best things about weddings here or anywhere is meeting the people that I am going to work with. I just received an email from one of the brides saying that "she was sad that she may never see me again"! It made me sad and happy all at once. To me this means that she considers me a friend and this is important to me. Meeting all of these people and laughing with them like I had known them for years is amazing.

Destination weddings are great in so many ways. The most important way is that you can get to know the people you are going to work with. All week you chat and see them interact with their family and this allows me to capture their real personalities because they are more relaxed around me. Not to mention the amazing backdrops you have to work with!!

So O-L-A for now! I am going through emails & facebook to clean up messages and will be back blogging in no time. I have about 4-5000 pics to sort through and their will be lots of blog posts from them! Stay tuned!

Wow! Things are changing in my world. For anyone who knows me, if you look at that first photo, and see that green bottle, you know why! Take a close look at the writing on it....SPF 50! WOW! I know to most of you this seems normal. Not to me, "Miss Tanorexic". I love the sun, I always have. This is the first time that I purposely have bought sunscreen that is above probably SPF 8! Ok that might even be a lie. I don't know if I have ever purposely bought sunscreen!

I am heading to Cuba, for 2 weeks, to photograph a few weddings, and of course to relax. I want to make the most of my time their without being burnt. Last year I was their, I only brought SPF15, and while normally that was fine, I ended up using one of my friends 45 the whole time. I think the very first time I went down south I brought baby oil, and just tanned, hardly any burn! Times are a changin' and so is the environment.

Oh I cannot wait to be relaxing on the beaches, watching my new and old friends splash around in the water like kids and enjoy their company. This is going to be a trip for the history books!

Speaking of the Environment - Be good to it! It is so beautiful, let's keep it that way. Happy Earth Day!
