When M showed up at my place for an "Everyone is Beautiful - Boudoir" Session, I thought, she didn't mentioned she was a model? M told me that she wasn't a model, but I thought she could easily pass for one. She had such an easy going personality as well as was stunningly beautiful. I have a ton more beautiful photographs of her but because these are strictly confidential, we have chosen to show you this following one. The following is a message from M, and how she came about choosing to do an "Everyone is Beautiful" Session with me!

Marcie_blog.jpg

"When I got engaged, I spent a lot of time visiting various wedding sites and blogs from all over the world.  One of the trends that I noticed was brides-to-be were no longer choosing traditional gifts for their future husbands, but instead opting for things like boudoir shoots.  I thought this was an interesting idea but never considered it for myself as I wasn't the right person or body shape to do such an intimate shoot.  Despite the thought passing, I still admired the people that took part in these sessions.

Time passed and I was still struggling with a gift for my fiance.  I discussed the idea of a boudoir shoot with some friends and close family members, and they all agreed, "why not?"  These people made me realize that the flaws that I was fixated on about myself, were nothing and my fiance loved me for being me.  With my hesitations behind me, my search for the perfect photographer began...

I started searching across the Maritimes for a professional who I would feel comfortable with, as well as would fit my style.  When I came across Rachel's site and received my first email from her, I knew that I found the perfect person!  Her warm and inviting tone and her enthusiastic ideas were contagious!   I immediately felt at ease with her and knew that I made the right decision.

Our wedding day is coming soon and I am so excited to give my husband this gift.  This whole experience has taught me to love my body the way it is, rather than what I think it should be.  I've learned that Rachel's Everyone is Beautiful Session is just that and I cannot thank her enough for helping me realize that.

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

Little Ashley was all dressed up and ready for her "Semi" dance, and wanted to celebrate this special time with some photos to make it more memorable!

I had met Ashley a few months back when she did an Everyone is Beautiful Session. It was so amazing to hang out with her again on such a special occasion! Ashley wore a turquoise sweet dress, and silver ballerina slippers...for a while. We decided that we would add some character to the photos and add her green converse shoes.

So now I am posting this Blogshow on her 13th Birthday. She is growing up into a beautiful girl and I am glad that I was able to capture the last few months!
Happy 13th Birthday Ashley!

When I asked Ashley for 5 favorite "ROCKIN' Random" things she responded with the following in this order:

1 - Llamas
2 - Shopping
3 - Hockey
4 - Basketball
5 - Soccer

Meet Shawn & Patty! Just one look at these 2 love birds and you would think that they were newly weds, not only because of their youth but because they acted it. I was surprised, happy & hopeful to hear that they have been married 25 years! I had to find out more about this love, because they seemed so youthful, undivided and so fun. Patty gave me some insight into there 25 years together!

"Shawn and I were married 25 years ago on April 28, 1984. I can honestly say that we love each other even more today. 25 years ago, we were just kids ourselves, when we married 10 months after a very short courtship. Our dating days were spent in Charlottetown walking all over the city hand in hand, getting to know each other, wanting the same things in life. I found out I was pregnant on our first anniversary, and that marked the first of four children every two years. Adults now, our children range in age from 17 - 23.

Money was very tight in the early years and raising four children, we were always very conscience of spending. We spent a lot of time at playgrounds, going on walks, picnics, and most vividly I remember laughing our heads off. Shawn lost his Dad to cancer when he was in his early teenage years, and I remember him saying he always wanted to be there for our family. With that being said, it has always been very important for us to be together as a family.

We have also worked at enriching our relationship, including our involvement with Marriage Encounter for the past 15 years. It gives us an opportunity to express our deep feelings of how we value each other, and what we want for our marriage. Shawn has always been, and continues to be my best friend whom I choose to spend most of my time with. When he looks at me, I feel loved, and I want him to feel the same way from me. We are eternally grateful for everyday we have together.

I have always loved Shawn very much, and these pictures have been an aphrodisiac for me. I didn't think it was possible to love him any more than I already did, but the more I look at his picture, I think to myself, I love you so much."

This weekend turned into a eventful one, this just after getting over the flu. I had a Empower the Dress session out at a rocky beach with a couple that are now good friends of mine. I had photographed their wedding and were celebrating their three year anniversary and wanted to  celebrate in a special way. They are so in love and wanted to show that the dress was only a small part of the day. They decided on a Empower the Dress session with me, in which the extent of "trashing" is up to the client! Some want to go right into the water, others just want to feel like a supermodel at a fashion shoot in a more urban setting!

This fun and relaxed photo shoot, will let you bring out the best of your personal style, with funky and energetic photos. This session can be all about you, or you can grab your new husband and bring him in on the fun. Jenn wanted some photos of herself along with some with Tim in them!

Everything was going as planned, I was taking some shots, checking out the surroundings etc. What happened next was all so fast that I didn't even know what happened. Literally. I had fallen down the rocks of the breakwater and smashed my head and ear off of some rocks. Just moments before "Cheetah", the lovable monkey in the photo below had been secured to my backpack for safe keeping. Little did I know he would save me and keep me, not visa versa. If that teddy monkey hadn't been secured to my backpack, I may not be here, my head would have easily been opened up and I could be in a lot worst shape. He had served as a barrier between my neck/head/ears and the rocks.

When I woke up, Jenn & Tim were standing there. All I saw were feet. I was confused, dazed and pretty nauseous. I sat for a while and while the fog cleared kept on wondering what my next shot would be. We finished the shoot because I convinced them that I was ok.

Later on that evening, after a ton of complete confusing conversation and pressure around me, I decided to get myself checked out at the Emergency Room. The Doctor couldn't believe that I had to make the decision to come in. It was a concussion and I would need to take it easy for the next while. I had to get a tetanus shot because of the open cuts on my hand and arm.

I am feeling quite a bit better today but very sore and still a bit confused. It makes me very grateful that this incident happened and I was reasonably ok, or well enough to take something good from the painful incident. Through the nauseousness and fog, I still feel that the Universe has something planned for me, and a bump on the head isn't going to stop me find out what it is.

I am posting a photo, of the hero, "Cheetah" who very well saved my  life. I will have more photos from the shoot coming along soon.
