Well look at this little Spicy Tomato!!! Stacey was a gorgeous bride/friend that did an Empower the Dress shoot with me in Varadero. We had her new husband and brother in law along for the help, bodyguards, and a few cold drinks. Thank Goodness we had a "Tim" around or we would have had crowds of locals looking like Stacey was a model or maybe a famous person from Hollywood! I cannot wait to create a giant album with these images!

What a beautiful girl with a flower in her hair!

Over the past few years, brides have been adding a boudoir photo session to their wedding packages. These are usually at least a month before the wedding and sometimes are given to the groom as a gift on a wedding night. Here are some of the questions I get asked about my boudoir sessions. I thought it might nice to share some of this information with any girls that are thinking of doing a session with me.

1 - Do you have any tips on how to relax about being photographed in lingerie?

Doing a Boudoir session can be a nervous thing for most people. EVERY person who emails me and eventually enters my place for a session is nervous. Most have serious second thoughts of canceling before the shoot. You can expect to be nervous. This is ok and quite normal. Sometimes I have heard that yoga, a walk or some form of exercise the morning of the session will also help.
It is when the client leave smiling & happy that is what I like to focus on!

2 - What type of lingerie looks great in boudoir photos?

I know that corsets are becoming a very popular choice for boudoir photos. Know your best asset and plan to accentuate it! Other choices are well-fitted bra-and-pantie sets, sexy leggings and cute baby dolls. Another thing that women sometime bring are favorite sports jersey's.

3 - What's the best setting for a boudoir shoot?

A bed or couch seems to be the fitting choice to start with for a boudoir shoot. If you have ideas, lets go over them! I always love to shoot on location and to have new ideas.

4 - Are there things a bride should avoid doing during the shoot that turn tasteful pictures into tacky ones?

Think about what you want your photos to look like. I don't use things like flowers, roses, or champagne glasses. That is not to say those things don't look great in photos, they are just not my style of photography. Having Professional Makeup done is also an important part of making your session a beautiful and not a tacky one. I can provide an amazing makeup artist on site.

5 - Do you have any advice on how to find a good boudoir photographer -- what you should look for, who you should avoid?

Ask around! I can send you some past clients emails who can share information about doing a session if you feel you would like to inquire. Find a photographer that has some experience and has lots of shots on their blogs and websites that are suited to your style of photography that you like. Make sure you feel comfortable with your photographer or you may feel more tense during the session.

What's your vision for your life? Since I posted it on my facebook status about "being excited for Vision Board night" - I have been bombard with emails and questions as to what making a vision board is all about. Actually the real question being asked to me is "What is a Vision Board?".

To me, a Vision Board is a creative collection of your hopes and dreams complied in one place. I have 2 already created, and from to time I see or think of new things I want to accomplish in life and add them to the next one. Since I started to create Vision Boards to visualize with, many things in my life have changed. I started believing in visualization, vision boards and the Law of Attraction many years ago. I created my first Vision Board 4 years ago. I post them behind my monitor (since that is where I seem to spend the most part of my day!) and from time to time I look at them and get excited about things that I will doing or being a part of it my future. I just look at them and the excitement starts.

I know what I want out of this life and believe that I deserve that the Universe will deliver these "things" to me. Not a lot on my Vision Boards are material things such as fancy cars, or fancy jewels. A lot of mine is things I want to accomplish or do such as flying a plane, being healthy or be a featured photographer in magazine spread.  The value of making a vision board goes way beyond the material things that life can give you. Because of the happiness that you see when you look at your Vision Board, your life changes to match those images and those desires; such as the people that come into your life or go out of your life. The universe will put people, places or things in your path to help your visions materialize.

Ok, I could go on about this stuff for days. I am excited that I have created my 3rd & 4th Vision Boards and cannot wait to start focusing on them. I am super pumped that a lot of the people in my life believe with me about this and were excited to get together to create new visions for our life!

XO

"I want to stay friends with you and it makes me sad to think we might never see each other again"

This was in Sonya's email that she sent me after I sent her the sneak peak pics. OF course I cried through her whole email. It was amazing to feel such love from a group that I had just met a week before. I felt like I belonged to their group and that they were being truly honestly new friends to me.

Sonya & Leon had 80 people arrive from all over Canada but mostly Newfoundland & Alberta to attend their wedding on May 4th in Varadero, Cuba. The day was extremely warm and was quoted as being 42 degrees of sunshiny love! It was amazingly beautiful. The location was under a canopy beach side with all of their family watching with love in their hearts. I couldn't help but have love in my heart for all of them and for being so lucky to do what I do.

Congratulations Sonya & Leon for everything, it was wonderful meeting you both and sharing with your families your most amazing day and time in Cuba!

Wow! What a stunning wedding party. These pictures brought tears to my eyes and they are strangers to me! I can see and feel the love between these two people. Rachel, you are a master at what you do - this couple were so lucky to have you as their photographer. You capture moments and create moments that will live on forever. I want to get married again just so you can take my photos. (to the same man of course...LOL)

I was asked by a good friend if I would take photos of her niece and her friends on her niece's 13th birthday night. This sounded like fun to me. The girls were doing their hair when I arrived and pretty excited to get photos taken.

Being 13 is a crazy age for many girls. I think Empowering them and nurturing them is soooo very important. I read somewhere a long time ago that 13 is the tenderest age of growing up. It is the age where girls decide a lot of things about themselves and their self worth. I hope that this photo shoot made these girls feel beautiful on the inside and out, that is after all what an Everyone is Beautiful shoot is all about.

"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
