The Engagement – The engagement as told by the bride. “It happened while Darcy and I were in PEI for Christmas 2010. On Christmas Eve, we went shopping to find something special for his Mom and Grandma. I didn’t know this at the time but Darcy wanted all his girls to get diamonds for Christmas (ahhhh). On our way home, he kept stopping at different beaches along the north shore. Due to severe storms, most of the beaches were washed away and getting down to the water was next to impossible. On our way back to Gram’s house, Darcy drove up a hill to the tower (the only major tower on Prince Edward Island), across the street from where his Gram lived when Darcy was a child. This was the first place Darcy took me on my very first trip to PEI in 2008. From the top of the hill, you can see most of the island.”

The Wedding – Summerhill Winery in beautiful Kelowna, BC over looking a vineyard was the setting for this beautiful, emotional and amazing wedding! Darcy had written and recorded a song about Tess in which he sang for her during the ceremony. The song was named after the nickname Tingles {Tess Ingalls) in which Darcy has used for Tess since meeting her. The reason why is much less exciting than you may assume. My email address at my last job was tingalls@???.ca… and well, the name stuck! At the wedding, you can be certain that Darcy will refer to me as Tingalls. I assumed that when I met them it was because Tess gave Darcy tingles, as I have seen a lot of couples in love and you could see his heart was tingling when he looked at her!

From the Bride “Darcy and I are from opposite sides of the country (PEI and Saskatchewan) which makes planning a wedding rather difficult! We finally decided on Kelowna, B.C. because it’s one of our favorite places to visit. Kelowna was one of the first vacation spots we visited together as a couple. We love the weather, the scenery and the wineries. Kelowna is truly Canada’s own version of Tuscany. May 20 is a really special day for me. It’s my late Grandma McKone’s birthday and also the day of my Grandpa McKone’s funeral – I wasn’t able to attend. This was our way of honoring two very special people to my family and I. May is also a beautiful time in Kelowna. The flowers will be in full bloom and we should hopefully have weather in the low 20′s… the perfect temperature for an outdoor wedding!”

The design of this wedding could be described as vintage loveliness. With Vintage Orgami‘s amazing furniture and detail rentals that flowed throughout the ceremony site as well as in the reception site, it was overflowing with lots of soft details. Flowers from Classic Creations Florals Design in the softest palest of hues complimented this design perfectly. Flowers were used not only for the wedding bouquets and perfect boutiners but all throughout the site. A sweet’s candy bar was created using all the favorite candies of Tess & Darcy. Cupcakes, cake treats and mini cake from CupCasions were all added to the table and enjoyed by many! Tess & Darcy also had a popcorn bar with regular popcorn and caramel popcorn to have as a snack between ceremony and reception.
